OUR ECOLOGICAL CHALLENGE IN WOOD HEATING

CERAMICHE SAVIO’s new wood stove is the concrete answer to the industry standard promoted in 1997 Kyoto Congress. Thirty eight nations, among the most industrialized in the world, held a meeting to discuss ways of reducing the “green house effect”. The goal is to decrease pollution by 5.2% by the year 2013.
The use of wood energy has increased in recent years, because the oldest source of energy has many advantages: it is renewable readily available, and it is neutral for CO2 emissions. The building trade (civilian, commercial, industrial) is responsible for about 30% of gas emissions which cause the “greenhouse effect”.

Therefore the substitution of sources of energy based on fossil fuel (petroleum and gas) with renewable resources (wood, solar, wind, biomass) is a very important target. The optimal combustion of wood does not increase the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and does not increase the greenhouse effect. If wood burned in the stove is properly dried, its combustion will be particularly clean and without polluting substances.
The production of carbon dioxide is equal to the quantity produced during the natural decomposition of wood. Moreover, the combustion of dry wood does not cause emissions of nitrogen dioxide and sulphur as fossil fuel does.

Always use dry wood

Whoever loves and cares about nature uses protect the environment by using only dry wood or wood correctly seasoned for at least 3 years. Never burn rubbish or waste in your stove. Doing so will increase the nitrogen dioxide and sulphur in the atmosphere, it will be as if you were poisoning your garden! In this way we can provide our children with clean air, even heating in our home and, last but not least, remarkable energy savings.

The contents of energy in wood

The caloric power of different kinds of wood, with variable degrees of humidity from 12 to 15%, is about 4.5 Kwh/kg. The contents of energy in 2.5 of wood is equal to 1 Lt. of oil fuel. One cubic metre of wood has the same quantity of energy as about 190 Lt. of oil fuel.

The wood stove as a source of alternative energy

The Ceramiche Savio wood stove is not only a complementary heating source but can also be a primary heating source. It has the capacity to heat a house with 70% energy saving while reducing pollution.

The efficiency of gas fuel

In Ceramiche Savio stoves, wood burns cleanly with a pleasant and warm flame. The flame and smoke are channelled toward the highest part of the heat exchanger without any pollution substances and then down against into the chimney-flue. During their journey, the smoke looses most of its thermic energy which quickly heats the connective air and, as a result your house. Part of the energy is accumulated in the ceramic tile and then gradually released by irradiation. The Ceramiche Savio stoves’ efficiency and emission conform to the German standard DIN 18891 and EPA –(American standard) and this guarantees their ecologic nature.

The double combustion

Ceramiche Savio stoves work with double combustion. The wood burns in the combustion chamber where unburnt gas and flames rise up to the heat exchanger. This is a result of Ceramiche Savio’s exclusive patented secondary air delivery system. This gas also burns producing a valuable thermic energy. Because of this combustion system, the smoke is particularly clean and does not create dangerous emissions in the atmosphere.
